My Story

I first started doing photography in 2014 right after graduating from high school. I started working for a couple of the Walmart Portrait studios in Winnipeg doing mainly passport photos, and a whole lot of family studio portraits with the Christmas season being the busiest. I later ended up being one of their on-location photographers, and this is where I started to use my own DSLR camera and photographed many other families outdoors across Winnipeg for the company. I did this for a total of 3 years before I started working for Lifetouch Canada doing school portrait photography. This is where I learnt more about flattering poses, angles, and how important lighting is, and where to position the light to flatter my subjects. I learnt how to pose very large groups, and to pay attention to every little detail. I got to travel all across Manitoba and even to Northern Ontario to photograph at different schools every day. I did this for 2 years in Winnipeg, and worked another year after transferring to the Brandon Lifetouch office when I moved from Winnipeg to Shilo in 2017 for my Boyfriend's military career. This is where Sweet Peach Photography by Julie was born. Shilo was so incredibly supportive of my photography career, I was constantly being booked up, and often had to turn away clients in the summer months as those were my busiest times for photo sessions and weddings. I created my own home studio in our tiny spare bedroom where I started to build a collection of newborn props throughout the years, and booked numerous newborn, cake smash and seasonal mini sessions. I lived in Shilo for 4 years, and my boyfriend and I just moved to Selkirk MB in December of 2021 where we will make this city our forever home and settle down.
